Joe is a graduate of the Australian Maritime College and brings more than 10 years of experience across the Tasmanian maritime industry, with expertise in both steel and aluminium vessel design.
Much of his career has been spent working within a busy shipyard environment, including several years as the sole Naval Architect on site. During this time, Joe has been involved in numerous new builds and vessel refits and has completed dockmaster training, developing successful docking plans for more than 50 vessel slippings.
Joe brings strong capability across vessel arrangement, 3D modelling, stability calculations and structural analysis using FEA. He particularly enjoys solving practical design and engineering challenges, combining technical analysis with an understanding of how vessels are actually built, maintained and operated.
Outside of work, Joe runs distances most people would consider completely unnecessary, including his daily commute, with vehicles apparently reserved for those less committed to the cause. He is equally at home on the water and outdoors and can regularly be found on human-powered adventures in some of Tasmania’s more spectacular locations.
